The Department of Modern Languages at Hanover College seeks candidates with a record of excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduates for a tenure-track appointment beginning 1 September 2019 as Assistant Professor of German (but will consider more advanced applicants).  The successful candidate will hold an earned Ph.D. in German or German Studies, the ability to teach at all levels of an integrated undergraduate German curriculum, evidence of scholarly engagement, and eagerness to build/revitalize a major program.

The teaching schedule is typically three courses in the Fall Term, three courses in the Winter Term, and 1 course in the 4-week Spring (i.e., May) Term.  Courses will be a combination of language, literature, culture courses, and film courses, with opportunities to develop new courses in one’s area of expertise and interest.  One should also be willing to lead off-campus Spring Term courses in Germany in occasional years.

The review of applications will begin immediately; applications received by February 4 are ensured full consideration.  For more information on Hanover College, please visit https://www.hanover.edu/ ; for more information on the Department of Modern Languages, please visit https://modlang.hanover.edu/

The application, in PDF format, should be addressed to Dr. Brigitte Randall, Chair, German Search Committee and forwarded to facultysearch@hanover.edu.  It should include a letter of interest, a teaching statement, a statement of current scholarly interests, and a current c.v.  One should arrange for separate submission of three letters of recommendation, also in PDF format and addressed as above.
