Public History/Museum Studies: The
University of Virginia's College at Wise seeks to fill a
tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in Public
History or Museum Studies to begin fall 2019. The successful
candidate should possess training and/or experience in Public
History or Museum Studies and be able to teach upper-level courses
in those and related fields. The successful candidate will
administer and seek to expand a growing Public History/Museum
internship program and will place and supervise student interns.
Experience teaching Western Civilization surveys is required. The
successful candidate will also teach upper-level courses in his/her
area of expertise, which is open, but the department has a strong
preference for someone able to teach courses in the ancient
Mediterranean World. Candidate qualifications include a Ph.D. at
the time of the appointment, a record or evidence of potential for
teaching, scholarship and service, and a strong commitment to
liberal arts/humanities. The University of Virginia's College at

liberal arts college located in a small town in the mountains of
southwestern Virginia.

Accounting. Successful candidates will have a Doctorate in
Accounting from a regionally accredited institution.
The department is especially seeking candidates who can
demonstrate an exceptional commitment to teaching, commitment to
scholarly research and a record of quality scholarship. Teaching
experience in governmental accounting and/or accounting information
systems is preferred. Interdisciplinary research as well as
pedagogical or educational research is encouraged. Teach and advise
undergraduate students with a dedication to student learning.
Maintain scholarly renewal and research, provide institutional
service and engage in in professional growth and development.
Salary, rank, and tenure status will be commensurate with
experience and qualifications. Candidates must have a minimum of 18
hours of graduate level accounting in order to be considered for
tenure track. A CPA certification is preferred. Other professional
accounting certifications (e.g., CMA, CIA, CFE, etc.) will also be
viewed favorably.
