SUNY Canton invites applications and nominations for the position of Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. SUNY Canton seeks a dynamic leader to work hand-in-hand with the campus community in pioneering new approaches to academics. As the Chief Academic Officer, the individual will have a proven record of achievement to continue the success of the institution in curriculum development, strategic admissions, enrollment management, academic program assessment, online learning, and international initiatives.

SUNY Canton enrolls approximately 3,500 students and offers baccalaureate, associate, and certificate degree programs in the allied health fields, business, criminal justice, engineering technology, and the liberal arts. The college is located in New York’s picturesque St. Lawrence River Valley, adjacent to the Adirondack Mountains, only a short drive from Montreal and Ottawa, Canada. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs will operate in a shared governance environment and be responsible for new academic curriculum development, academic/institutional planning and assessment, strategic admissions and enrollment management, support of online learning, leadership in faculty and staff development, budget and resource allocation, and a willingness to participate in the life of the campus and the community. The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs reports to the President and will represent the President in his absence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• An earned doctorate from an accredited college or university in a discipline related to the college’s academic offerings

• Proven track record of successful higher education administrative experience at the Dean level or higher

• Evidence of effective leadership in academic growth, curriculum development, and strategic enrollment

• Experience with academic and institutional assessment for both program and regional accreditation

• Demonstrated excellence in teaching, as well as appropriate scholarly work, research, and university service necessary for continuing appointment (tenure)

• Experience with budget management and resource allocation

• Proven ability to effectively interact with and provide support for faculty

• Involvement with students outside of the classroom environment (advisor, directing student research, etc.)
