Arcadia University invites applications to fill a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Historical & Political Studies (HAPS), to begin in fall 2019. HAPS is an inter-disciplinary department with three undergraduate majors (History, International Studies, and Politics, Government, & Law) and one Master’s program (International Peace and Conflict Resolution). Most HAPS faculty members teach in multiple areas of the department as per their areas of expertise.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in East or Southeast Asia or the Middle East. Thematic specialization in one or more of the following areas is also desired: international political economy, global governance, conflict management, or environmental politics and sustainable development. We welcome candidates with training in Political Science, History, Anthropology, and other related disciplinary and interdisciplinary fields.

Ph.D. strongly preferred by September 2019, as are demonstrated excellence in and commitment to teaching, and a strong research and publishing record commensurate with the candidate’s experience.

Arcadia’s College of Arts and Sciences offers programs in science, technology, and math; humanities; visual and performing arts; communications; and historical and political studies. These programs prepare students for careers that contribute to a global society and allow students to exhibit, perform, and publish on campus through a variety of campus media outlets, including an art gallery, a literary magazine, and an online journal.

Arcadia University is a top-ranked private university in Greater Philadelphia and promises a distinctly global, integrative, and personal learning experience that prepares students to contribute and lead in a diverse and dynamic world. A national leader in study abroad and international education, Arcadia has been named #1 in undergraduate study abroad participation by the Institute of International Education’s Open Doors Report for the past seven years. Approximately 3,900 students attend Arcadia, and the University’s 2,500 undergraduate students choose from more than 65 fields of study.
