Position Information:
The Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice invites applications for a tenure-track position in American Politics with a focus on Latino politics at the Assistant Professor level. The position begins August 21, 2019.

Minimum Education and Experience:
The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position
is a Ph.D. or comparable degree in Political Science or other
related discipline. Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate
may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the
degree must be met no later than August 21, 2019. The Department
seeks candidates with expertise and preparation in American
politics, specializing in Latino politics and political behavior.
The successful candidate must be able to serve an ethnically and
culturally diverse student body and participate in both our
undergraduate and graduate programs.
Additional Requirements and Responsibilities for this
position:
This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of
teaching, scholarship, and service to the Department and
University. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of
the individual and the needs of the department.
The person holding this position is considered a âmandated
reporterâ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting
Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in
CSU Executive Order 1083 (revised July 21, 2017) as a condition of
employment.
Recruitment Preferences:
The ideal candidate will develop and teach a course in Latino
politics in the United States and should also be able to teach
other courses, such as interest groups and social movements,
politics of race and ethnicity, Introduction to American Politics,
and research methods, among others. Please see our current Course
