Assistant Professor

Human Development and Family Science

Position:               

The Department of Educational Psychology invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor rank to begin Fall 2019. The position is for an applicant with expertise in Human Development and Family Science (HDFS). The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the continued development and success of the department and growing the HDFS concentration through research, teaching, and mentoring of students. Instructional roles include teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in HDFS and/or other courses as needed in the department, in both traditional and online formats, and potentially at satellite locations. The successful candidate will be expected to sustain an ongoing research agenda in their area of specialization, including regular publications in quality outlets, professional presentations, and submission of external grant proposals. Service on dissertation committees is expected, as well as representation of the discipline and department via committee participation and other relevant service activities.

 

Qualifications:     

Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate in HDFS, Educational Psychology, or a closely related field, with expertise in family science. ABD candidates will be considered as long as the doctorate is successfully defended prior to the start date. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated college-level teaching and research experience, as well as external funding or the potential for external funding, commensurate with rank.   

 Preferred qualifications include evidence of ability to teach courses to students preparing to be researchers as well as practitioners, development and maintenance of a scholarly research agenda, familiarity with administration of programs related to families, and affiliation with the National Council on Family Relations.
