The Department of English at the University of Illinois at Chicago invites applications for a tenure track position as Assistant Professor of English, specializing in Early Modern British /Renaissance Studies, beginning Fall 2019. In addition to demonstrated expertise in the literature of the period, areas of specialization could include Race Studies, Colonial and Empire Studies, Materialism and Material Culture, Rhetoric, Theater and Performance Studies, or Gender and Queer Studies. The successful applicant will demonstrate a research agenda of substantial promise and a commitment to teaching a diverse student body. The teaching load is 2-2. Final authorization of the position is subject to availability of funding.
