The School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Universidad de Navarra seeks to fill a one year​ full-time, open-rank, teaching position in Spanish and Academic Writing to begin September 2019. Depending on performance and mutual interests, the contract may be extended to a second year. ​Candidates may eventually apply for a permanent position.

The selected candidate will become part of the Spanish Studies Department, a dynamic unit of 25 professors responsible for the degree in Spanish, the degree in Literature and Creative Writing, the PhD program in Arts and Humanities and the Writing Center.

Candidates will have a PhD in Spanish. They are expected to teach oral and written linguistic skills to native students, from Spain and Latin America, mainly for academic purposes, both in Spanish and non-Spanish majors. The School of Humanities will value the candidate’s ability to also teach composition courses in English, or teach other related disciplines. The ideal candidate will also have experience in a writing center, and assist in the development of the the School’s Writing Center, implementing leadership, strategic vision, goals, objectives, and assessment measures. Demonstrated research excellence or promise of research are expected. The School will take into consideration the successful candidate’s ability to do research in applied linguistics or speech analysis, to lead departmental projects, to be genuinely committed to students and to show a collaborative spirit with colleagues and administrative staff. Duties include teaching 2 or 3 courses per semester and assisting with program development. Young scholars are particularly encouraged to apply.
