Visiting Assistant Professor of English  One Year Appointment 2019-2020

Position Summary:  The Department of English at Gettysburg College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor in Rhetoric and Composition, beginning August 2019. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to composition and rhetoric studies, and will participate in course and program development, especially in digital and multimodal writing, writing in new media, and other digital pedagogical approaches.  We welcome interests in areas such as but not limited to: critical race, gender, sexuality and/or disability studies; ethnic and/or transnational rhetorics; literary editing and publishing; longform journalism; public writing; radio, screen, and television writing; and social justice rhetoric/writing. The teaching load will be three courses each semester and includes first-year writing as well as courses in the candidate’s specialty.

Qualifications:     A Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition or a closely related field by time of appointment is preferred.  The successful candidate will be committed to the teaching of undergraduates, have a promising research agenda, and contribute to the diversity of our curriculum and/or community.
