Assistant/Associate Professor of Rhetoric and Composition and
Director of the First-Year Writing Program
Babson College seeks an Assistant/Associate Professor of Rhetoric
and Composition and Director of the First-Year Writing Program,
effective September 2019. Babson is a small, diverse campus near
Boston with a large international student population. Candidates
should have at least 4 years of full-time teaching experience in
composition and at least 2 years in writing program administration.
The Director will have the responsibility of leading our program,
including assessing and overseeing its curriculum, supervising and
mentoring staff, and developing clear programmatic goals with
student learning outcomes that connect first-year writing courses
to other writing-intensive coursework at the intermediate and
advanced levels. The position requires a PhD in rhetoric and
composition, or a related field. Preference will be given to
candidates who demonstrate scholarly specialization and
publications in at least one of the following areas: writing
program administration, writing program assessment, or composition
theory and pedagogy. An agenda for future research should be
evident. Secondary interests in ELL or in an area of cultural or
multi-ethnic studies preferred. Excellent skills in communication
and in collaborative leadership are also important.
