The Department of Spanish and Portuguese of Temple University is pleased to invite applications for a Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professorship in Spanish. Applications are sought from candidates with a strong background in Online Instruction who can serve as our new e-Learning Coordinator. Credentials should contain evidence of best pedagogical practices at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  At the undergraduate level, responsibilities include, but are not limited to, online Spanish teaching, coordination of current and future online offerings in conjunction with departmental coordinators, training and supervision of online instructors, participation in expansion of online courses and program offerings, and commitment to searching for and engaging with emerging online pedagogies and technologies.  At the post-grad level, the candidate will be able to teach and spearhead the incorporation of online pedagogical resources for online post-baccalaureate certificates. Applicants should have experience adapting face-to-face courses to the online format, developing online course templates, and preparing faculty to use high-impact online practices.

The candidate should demonstrate evidence of outstanding commitment to undergraduate teaching. A Ph.D. in hand by August 2019 is required.  The candidate selected for this position should have native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English, and must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin.  The normal teaching load is four courses per semester, but the candidate may receive a teaching course reduction for coordinating online courses and programs.
