Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a Tenure Track position in Anthropology at the level of Assistant Professor beginning in fall semester 2019. The successful candidate must have completed a Ph.D. prior to or shortly after the date of hire. We seek an archaeologist specializing in the African Diaspora with a regional specialization in North America or the Caribbean, broadly trained in anthropology, with an excellent teaching record, an active research agenda, and a strong commitment to including students in ongoing research. A strong willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues in International Studies, Latinx Studies, African Diaspora Studies, History, and Environmental Studies is also preferred. Theoretical specialties should complement existing strengths within the Anthropology department.
Responsibilities include teaching a 3/2 course load over two semesters in each academic year. The successful candidate will teach at least one section of Introduction to Archaeology each year, upper-level courses in Archaeology, and classes dealing with the modern cultures and histories associated with their area of specialization. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to the senior capstone in Anthropology.
