The African Studies program in Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Strong preference will be given to those whose work is interdisciplinary and broadly comparative. We are particularly interested in scholar-teachers whose work explores the growth and representation of religious beliefs and identity in Africa, and the intersection between religious life and domestic and international politics. Applicants with a regional expertise in West Africa are especially welcome. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong record of teaching and scholarship.  ABDs are welcome to apply but must have degree in hand by August 2019.

Review of applications will begin December 15, 2018, although we will accept applications until the position is filled. Interested applicants should submit the following: a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a sample of scholarly writing, brief statement of teaching and research interests, copies of teaching evaluations, if available, and three (3) letters of recommendation.

Applications for this position must be submitted online at https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/11694. Faxed, mailed, or emailed applications will not be accepted.

Questions about the online application system should be directed to Sarah Nebbeling, Assistant Director of Faculty Affairs at ska60@georgetown.edu. Queries about the position should be directed to Dr. Scott Taylor, Professor and Director of the African Studies Program, at sdt@georgetown.edu.
