Located 36 miles east of Atlanta, Oxford College of Emory University seeks a scholar to fill the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in English to begin August 2019.

The successful candidate will specialize in Early Modern British Literature with an emphasis on Shakespeare. Preference will be given to those candidates whose teaching and research promote integrative learning where students practice discovery, exploration, and critical reflection across a breadth of disciplines. We also seek candidates who can contribute to Oxford’s goals of inclusivity and community engagement through explorations of the use, influence, and impact of Shakespeare’s works in various eras, places, and/or media. Teaching responsibilities are three courses per semester. Candidates will be expected to teach first-year writing, Shakespeare, British Literature before 1660, one of Oxford College’s distinctive “Discovery Seminars,” and other courses within their area(s) of expertise that contribute to Oxford College’s liberal arts curriculum and support Emory University’s English major/minor.

Qualifications:

A PhD in English completed by time of appointment, significant experience in teaching, a commitment to and record of teaching excellence, and an active scholarly research agenda.

Additional Position Details:

Complete applications with cover letters submitted by October 1, 2018 will receive full consideration.

One of Emory University's four schools partnering in undergraduate education, Oxford College provides 950 first- and second-year students of high academic profile an intensive liberal-arts program for the first two years of their Emory bachelor’s degree.  We are interested in candidates with a commitment to working with a remarkably diverse student body in an inclusive learning community. Applications from women and historically underrepresented minorities are particularly welcome.
