The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Japanese starting Fall 2019. Specialization is open but successful candidates must show a strong potential for research.  The course load is 2:2; in addition to teaching in one’s own specialty, the candidate will also be expected to teach Japanese language, literature, and culture at all levels. The successful candidate will be expected to take a leadership role by helping to further develop our thriving Japanese Studies Program in addition to participating in the common work of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures faculty. Credentials: Ph.D., evidence of excellence in undergraduate language teaching, and native/near-native language ability both in Japanese and English.
