The Western Washington University Department of Anthropology seeks a tenure track Assistant Professor in Biological/Physical Anthropology.

The Department of Anthropology, in order to maintain its current level of excellence and continue to serve our students, the college, and the university with the highest level of teaching and scholarship, seeks to recruit a tenure track biological/physical anthropologist whose geographic focus open, and whose theoretical expertise includes the biological basis of human behavior and evolution.  The ideal candidate will integrate human growth and development, and the continuum of health and disease (evolutionary biology and medicine), with a working knowledge of molecular anthropology or comparative primate osteology. Teaching duties include: Introductory Biological Anthropology, Basic Statistics, Osteology, Medical/Nutritional Anthropology, and specialized courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.

 

 

 

The Department of Anthropology invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in biological/physical anthropology, to begin in September 2019.  The ideal candidate will have PhD in hand and a strong foundation in the biological/physical basis of evolutionary theory.  Preferred academic specialties include human growth and development, and the continuum of health and disease (evolutionary biology and medicine).  An additional working knowledge of molecular anthropology and comparative primate osteology is desired.  The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate dedication to effective teaching and active-learning practices.  They must also be able to demonstrate an ability to develop and sustain a research program, to mentor students and engage them in research.  the WWU Department of Anthropology is committed to advancing diversity in all areas of faculty effort, including scholarship, instruction, and engagement.  Candidates should address at least one of the topical areas outlined above in their cover letter, indicating how their past experiences, current interests and activities, and/or future goals could promote a work climate that values and supports inclusion.
