The Communication Department within the College of Arts and Letters at The University of Tampa seeks candidates for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor in Communication to begin August 15, 2019. Teaching load is 3 courses (12 credit hours) per semester over two 15-week semesters per academic year.

The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of 8,900 undergraduate and graduate students. The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110-acre campus next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa's dynamic central business district, which is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan area. UT reflects this vibrancy; with 21 consecutive years of enrollment growth UT boasts 229 student organizations, a multicultural student body from 50 states and 140 countries, and "Top Tier" ranking in U.S. News and World Report.

The department seeks a candidate with a Ph.D. (by time of appointment) in Communication or a related field to teach a range of possible undergraduate communication courses. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in intercultural communication, and we encourage applications from scholars who approach the field from a perspective informed by critical studies in race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, and/or critical engagement with the Global South. We welcome candidates who can strengthen the critical and cultural diversity in our curriculum, including updating existing courses and proposing new ones (as needed).
