Political Science: Assistant Professor of Asian Politics - 000173
The Department of Political Science in the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Richmond invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in comparative politics, to begin in August 2019. The department seeks to hire a teacher-scholar with expertise in Asian politics, broadly defined, who will meet and expand curricular goals within the major and broaden the department' s research expertise. We welcome applicants to join an interdisciplinary community of scholars with interests in Asia. The position carries a 3-2 teaching load consisting of a regular offering of a survey course on Asian politics, an upper-division course in the candidate' s area of research interest, courses contributing to the department' s ongoing offerings of introductory-level comparative politics and research methods courses, and possibly other service courses related to the individual' s areas of expertise.
Applicants must either hold a Ph.D. in Political Science or show credible evidence that they will complete the dissertation by August 1, 2019. The application should include the following: a cover letter containing a brief summary of the candidate' s research and teaching interests; separate statements on research interests/plans and on teaching philosophy/experience; current curriculum vitae; copies of graduate transcripts; and three letters of recommendation, at least one of which should also speak to the candidate' s record of or potential for excellence in teaching. The teaching statement should articulate the candidate' s teaching philosophy, interests, and goals as well as involvement and commitment to inclusive pedagogy.
