The College of International and Security Studies at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies invites applications for a faculty appointment at the rank of associate professor to strengthen its Program on Countering Transnational Organized Crime. This is a Title 10 three-year renewable appointment. The candidate’s teaching responsibilities will include giving lectures in his/her field of expertise and leading graduate-level seminars with a special emphasis security policy issues confronting Europe and Eurasia. Expertise in U.S. foreign and security policy and European politics and security would be particularly welcome.
The College of International and Security Studies faculty combines U.S., German and international faculty, both civilian academics and military professors. The appointment requires teaching in our resident program and travel to support outreach and alumni programs across Europe, Eurasia and Central Asia.
The Marshall Center is one of five Defense Department Regional Centers for Security Studies. It is a German-American partnership, operated jointly by the U.S. Defense Department and the German Ministry of Defense, located in Garmisch, Germany. The Center’s mission is to foster a cooperative security environment in Europe and beyond by relying on the whole of government approach to security. The Center’s program combines Security Studies courses with courses on combatting transnational terrorism, strengthening cyber security, countering organized crime and corruption, as well as regional security challenges, including state-on-state conflict and migration.
