RELIGION FACULTY OPENING, Full-time

Calvin College is seeking a full-time tenure-track faculty member in Biblical Studies or Christian Theology to join the Department of Religion beginning August 2019. The rank of the position is open.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

Faculty members are expected to demonstrate excellent teaching ability and a track record of (or strong potential for) scholarly work. Primary expertise in Biblical Studies or Christian Theology is required. Successful candidates will have a PhD.

FACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES

The standard faculty load is 21-24 semester hours distributed over two semesters and a January interim term. Faculty are expected to pursue an active scholarship agenda, to advise undergraduate students, and to serve on college and departmental committees.

ABOUT THE RELIGION PROGRAM

A department in the humanities, the Department of Religion teaches courses in Biblical Studies, Christian Theology, and World Religions, along with cognate subjects. It teaches courses fulfilling Calvin College’s general education requirements, for which most students take two Religion courses, and offers a Religion Major, Religion Minor, and a Religion Minor in Secondary Education.
