Position Summary:
The Department of Sociology & Anthropology at the University of Idaho is seeking a biological anthropologist as a tenure-track assistant professor. The applicant should be able to teach a four-field introduction to anthropology class, an introductory course in bioanthropology, and other courses related to their specialty. The applicant should be able to teach in a research specialty of forensic anthropology and/or bioarcheology. Ideally, the candidate's research will complement our departmental focus areas in one or more of the following areas; historical archeology, applied anthropology, criminology and forensics, or American Indian Studies. The successful candidate should be interested in developing collaborative, interdisciplinary research programs that can incorporate both undergraduate and graduate students and have an interest in conducting research in the Intermountain West or Pacific Northwest.
Minimum Qualifications:
-PhD in Anthropology
-Ability to teach physical anthropology, intro to anthropology, and
general education freshman seminars
-Mentor and supervise graduate student research
-Ability to teach and do research in specialty area of forensic
anthropology and/or bioarcheology
Preferred Qualifications:
-Contribute to one or more of our department focus areas in
historical archeology, criminology, or American Indian
Studies
-Demonstrated interest in conducting research in the Intermountain
West or Pacific Northwest.
-Willingness to work collaboratively on interdisciplinary research
projects
