The Division of Languages and Literature at Bard College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Literature for Fall 2019 with a focus on the novel written in English (period and region open). We seek a scholar who can add to the program’s existing areas of specialization with a willingness and ability to also teach broadly.

Candidates must have a PhD in hand at the time of application, a developed scholarly record and active research agenda, a demonstrated commitment to teaching, and at least one year of university-level teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum in Literature, to advise Senior Projects, and to contribute to Bard’s First-Year Seminar Program. The teaching load is 3-2 courses per year. It is our intention to find an individual who will enrich our curricular offerings, demonstrate scholarly excellence, and work closely and collaboratively with others. The successful candidate will also share the Division's commitment to an active and intentional diversity and will be able to engage and inspire students of all backgrounds and identities.
