Visiting Assistant Professor - Creative Writing

The University of Toledo Department of English Languages and Literature invites applications for an instructional position in Creative Writing to begin Fall Semester 2018.  The position is a one-year non-tenure-track visiting appointment, renewable for two subsequent years, contingent upon satisfactory performance and instructional need.  The visiting assistant professor will teach introductory and advanced courses in creative writing, and other courses as assigned.  Specialization in poetry or creative nonfiction preferred, but the search is open to all disciplines.  MFA in Creative Writing or PhD in English with a Creative Writing specialty by the time of appointment.  Publication record and experience teaching creative writing preferred.  In addition, preferred qualifications include experience mentoring underrepresented minority students.  Candidates must apply at https://jobs.utoledo.edu with a letter of application addressed to Search Committee Chair Sara Lundquist, a CV, a statement of teaching philosophy, and a representative published or unpublished creative work.  Three letters of recommendation must be submitted by the recommenders to EnglishDept@utoledo.edu. The search committee will begin reviewing applications starting July 5; applications will be accepted until the position is filled.  Interviews will be conducted via Skype.
