PRESIDENT
Allegheny College invites nominations and applications for the
position of President.
A top-tier liberal arts college of about 1,800 students, Allegheny
attracts high-achieving applicants from across the nation and the
globe. The College, located in northwestern Pennsylvania,
encourages and celebrates students’ unique blends of interests and
talents. Allegheny’s undergraduate residential education prepares
young adults for successful, meaningful lives by promoting
students’ intellectual, moral, and social development and
encouraging personal and civic responsibility. Allegheny’s faculty
and staff combine high academic standards and a commitment to the
exchange of knowledge with a supportive approach to learning.
Graduates are equipped to think critically and creatively, write
clearly, speak persuasively, and meet challenges in a diverse,
interconnected world.
Allegheny’s 22nd president will be prepared to embrace the
College’s “Third Century Quest” by collaboratively developing
strategies and engaging in shared governance to: increase financial
aid; enhance global learning and internship opportunities;
strengthen a diverse campus community; continue to renovate,
restore, and maintain the historic campus; honor the College’s
historic traditions while maintaining a vision for the future; and
fundraise for the long-term financial well-being of the institution.
Other opportunities include continuing Allegheny’s national
leadership in sustainability, partnering closely with the Meadville
community on mutually-benefi cial programs, and closing out the $200
million “Our Allegheny” comprehensive campaign. Passionate about
enhancing Allegheny’s cross- disciplinary learning environment, the
next president will be accessible and engaged, both on campus and
with external constituencies, including alumni, national affiliates,
and international partners. The ideal candidate will possess
superior leadership experience and skills and a strong commitment
to liberal arts learning.
Consideration of candidate materials will begin immediately and
continue until a new president is named. The College is being
