The University of Dundee is seeking an exceptional leader for the post of Principal and Vice-Chancellor. Named The Times and Sunday Times, ‘Scottish University of the Year’ for 2016 and 2017, and ranked as one of the world’s top 200 universities by Times Higher Education, Dundee’s reputation has risen from strength to strength. These strengths cover several different areas of excellence; from securing Gold TEF status, to achieving the highest research intensity of any medium sized university in the UK. Student experience sits at the heart of Dundee’s approach, resulting in the University placing in the top ten universities for student experience in the UK.
The University’s new Principal and Vice-Chancellor will provide outstanding leadership, commanding the respect of Dundee’s unique community, bringing energy and enthusiasm to the delivery of the University’s vision and strategy. This person will promote and stimulate the very best academic, organisational and financial performance, as well as playing a leading role in representing the University’s interests locally and nationally, whilst driving its ambitious international growth agenda.
Strong candidates will demonstrate a keen affinity with Dundee’s values, whilst evidencing a strong commitment to Dundee’s community and the wellbeing of the wider region. A strong record of championing diversity and inclusion, as well as a commitment to representing the student voice in decision making at the highest level will be crucial. The ability to motivate the entire University community through outstanding interpersonal, influencing, management and communication skills will be essential, as will credibility with distinguished academics and practitioners.
