The Behavioral Research in Technology and Engineering (BRiTE) Center in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington School of Medicine seeks a dynamic and entrepreneurial scientist for a full-time, 12-month service period appointment, at the Assistant or Associate Professor level without tenure.

The BRiTE Center focuses on the development and implementation of technology-based interventions for mental illness and behavioral health problems.  We strongly emphasize interdisciplinary team science approaches and proactively partner with technologists, healthcare delivery systems, and technology industry to pursue our research goals.

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Psychology or related fields or an MD degree (or foreign equivalent) and a demonstrated track-record of active nationally-funded research grants involving digital health. BRiTE Center faculty use a variety of technology in behavioral intervention, data science, speech analytics, wearable computing, and mobile health (mHealth) approaches. We are particularly interested in early stage or mid-career candidates with strong interests in technology-based approaches in the assessment and treatment of serious mental illness (e.g., mHealth/eHealth web-based, social media), clinician–facing tools (e.g., decision support, training, quality assurance), and technology in the service of global mental health initiatives.

Responsibilities of the position include the development of an independent, extramurally funded research program in technology and mental health and mentoring post-doctoral students and junior faculty investigators.  Successful applicants will be appointed as faculty at the University of Washington and will be part of an innovative and entrepreneurial group at a Center with diverse interests and expertise.
