The Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies interdisciplinary program at DePauw University invites applications for a one-year post-doctoral position to begin in August 2018. Ph.D by time of appointment in Women's, Gender, and/or Sexuality Studies is preferred, though applicants who hold a graduate certificate or degree in a related field are welcome to apply. Area of specialization is open, but we are especially interested in candidates whose teaching or research complements existing strengths in the program by incorporating transnational feminisms, masculinity, queer, and/or trans studies, ecofeminism or environmental justice, or disability studies.
We seek a teacher-scholar who applies an intersectional lens to all aspects of teaching, from course development to classroom management, and who can facilitate lively discussion, demonstrate a commitment to students, and create an inclusive and welcoming classroom environment. The teaching load is four courses for the academic year. The candidate will offer an Introduction to Women's Studies course and a 200- or 300- level topics course of their choice each semester. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach a course focused on Queer Theory/Introduction to Sexuality Studies or Transnational Feminisms. Candidates must have experience teaching the introductory course and at least one topics course and application materials should demonstrate a proven record of excellence in teaching. This position is a 2/2 teaching-postdoc and includes mentoring, presentation opportunities, and time to pursue independent scholarly projects.
Candidates should submit the following materials through Interfolio (https://apply.interfolio.com/49321): letter of application, teaching statement addressing inclusive pedagogy and markers of student success, statement of research agenda, curriculum vitae, three confidential letters of recommendation, and transcripts.
