Associate Professor/Professor & Endowed Chair, The Sykes Family Chair in Pediatric Physical

Applications and nominations are invited for the tenure-eligible position of Associate Professor or Full Professor and Sykes Family Chair in Pediatric Physical Therapy, Pediatric Health and Development in the Division of Biokinesiology & Physical Therapy. The Division’s scholarly and research programs are broadly defined to support two educational programs within the Division: Biokinesiology (PhD and MS) and Physical Therapy (DPT), and four credentialed physical therapy residency programs. The faculty direct a total of 14 research labs and many hold secondary appointments within the USC Keck School of Medicine, the university-wide Neuroscience Graduate Program, and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. The division seeks in all its many facets to be an energetic participant in the USC Strategic Vision to “address global challenges, spark creativity, invent and innovate, connect peoples and help improve the quality of life.”

The Sykes Family Chair in Pediatric Physical Therapy, Pediatric Health and Development in the Division of Biokinesiology & Physical Therapy was established to advance pediatric physical therapy education, clinical practice, service and research at USC. The vision is to enhance the health and well-being of children through the advancement of cutting edge pediatric research, education of leaders in pediatric physical therapy and rehabilitation, and outreach to communities neighboring the University of Southern California.

Thus, we seek applicants at the Associate or Full Professor level who are internationally recognized as basic science or clinical researchers and academic scholars within an area relevant to the practice of pediatric physical therapy. Applicants should have an active research program and a strong record of published, extramurally funded research. In addition, the successful candidate will provide leadership to a young research cluster in motor development and rehabilitation within the division and emerging collaborative links across the university to further the division’s contribution to the USC Strategic Vision through innovation in physical therapy to improve the quality of life for children.
