Assistant Professor, American Indian Studies

Blacks Hills State University announces two openings for tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor of American Indian Studies to be filled for the Fall semester, 2018.

Ability and willingness to develop and teach a broad range of American Indian Studies courses in face-to-face and online formats is essential with both positions.

Position One (F00106P)

A Ph.D. in American Indian/Native American Studies, American Studies, Ethnic Studies, Anthropology or a closely related field is required, ABDs will be considered.

Preference will be given to candidates who show evidence of successful teaching experience in the area of American Indian/Native American Studies, in particular the Plains Indian populations. We particularly welcome applicants whose work encompasses American Indian and Indigenous centered knowledge production and epistemologies. We are especially interested in interdisciplinary and intersectional research that engages with racialization, environmental justice, science and technology studies, political economy, history, and education.

Position Two (F00105P)

A Ph.D. in American Indian/Native American Studies, American Studies, Ethnic Studies, or a closely related field is required, ABDs will be considered.

We particularly welcome applicants whose work encompasses American Indian and Indigenous centered knowledge production and epistemologies. Candidates should demonstrate an active research agenda on questions of Modern & Contemporary Issues in American Indian Life and American Indian Government and Politics. Other areas of interest would include Federal Indian Law & Policy and American Indian Organization & Development.
