A tenure-track position in music therapy is available beginning academic year 2018-2019.

The Department of Music seeks an energetic, collaborative, and creative colleague, who will develop and administer the inaugural curriculum for an undergraduate degree program in music therapy, assist with the initial application process to AMTA and NASM, design a clinical training program to meet AMTA standards, and teach courses consistent with the candidate’s background and needs of the department. The successful candidate should possess the following characteristics: experience with teaching in a music therapy program; commitment to teaching of undergraduates in a liberal arts setting; vision to develop a music therapy curriculum; potential for the recruitment of students; the ability to develop and administer a clinical training program, including internship experiences; and skills in developing and overseeing assessment of the program. Successful record of undergraduate teaching or perceived potential for success is essential. A continuing record of publications, research, and other appropriate professional activities is expected.

The candidate should hold a Masters in music therapy or Ph.D. in Music Therapy/Doctoral Studies in Music Therapy as well as board-certification with the Certification Board for Music Therapists. The candidate should have at least three years of full-time clinical experience in music therapy or its equivalent in part-time work; pursue continuing education relevant to teaching responsibilities; demonstrate mastery of all professional level and applicable advanced competencies in music therapy; and display effectiveness as a music therapy clinician in at least one area of practice.
