Bethel College seeks a mission-aligned Vice President for Enrollment Management with a successful track record to lead its enrollment operation to new heights.

THE COLLEGE: Bethel College, is a four-year Christian college of the arts and sciences. Affiliated with the Missionary Church, the college is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, an organization of more than 180 Christian institutions around the world, whose mission is to advance the cause of Christ-centered higher education. Offering more than 50 areas of study, Bethel is currently composed of 1,500 traditional and adult/graduate students from 29 states and 15 countries, and 250 full-time professionals dedicated to serving its students. Located in Mishawaka, Indiana, the intimate campus is close to a wide range of employment, service and recreational opportunities. 

THE VPEM: The successful Vice President for Enrollment Management (VPEM) candidate will be a leader in increasing traditional undergraduate first-time-in-college (FTIC) enrollment, recruitment and enrollment of new students in the Adult and Graduate Student (AGS) division, and retention efforts.

Reporting to the President and serving as a member of the President’s Cabinet, the VPEM will provide bold leadership for Undergraduate Admission, Financial Aid, AGS Admission, and enrollment marketing. The successful candidate will understand the art and science of enrollment management and be able to demonstrate experience building and executing successful and sustainable enrollment operations. S/he will be able to form and maintain relationships with vendors/partners who provide expertise and services necessary for student search, application generation, and financial aid modeling when required.

The new VPEM will demonstrate expertise in the use of data analytics to inform strategies, goals and decisions; proven record of applying these skills in the assessment cycle; excellence in monitoring and reporting; using data for training and communication with the enrollment division offices, the President’s Cabinet and the Bethel community.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE (this is a sample listing; more details can be found in the position profile):

Candidates for this position should have at least 10 years of experience in enrollment management with a proven record of leadership, excellence in execution, and entrepreneurial skills applied to the recruitment and enrollment of students who are well suited to the Bethel College mission. In addition, candidates should demonstrate the following characteristics, skills, abilities, and understanding:

  • Champion and fulfill the mission of Bethel College, including possessing a demonstrated maturity in the Christian faith (i.e. beyond a profession of faith, the capacity to coach and mentor others);
  • Foster a relational climate for the recruitment process and service models;
  • Willingness to maintain high level of personal visibility for Bethel College;
  • Willingness to enhance the historic partnerships and relationships with the Missionary Church, strong feeder schools, community-based organizations, and college counselor networks, and cultivate and formalize new relationships;
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in higher education market research, development and growth including international markets to inform and execute our related strategic and implementation plans;
  • Proven experience leading undergraduate, graduate, international, and transfer enrollment efforts;
  • Expertise in developing and executing competitive financial aid packages, pricing philosophies, and strategies to achieve enrollment goals;
  • Analytical mindset and expertise in highly effective use of data analytics to inform strategies, goals, and decisions; proven record of applying these skills in the assessment cycle, with excellence in monitoring and reporting;
  • Highly proficient in utilization of enrollment CRM and enterprise systems, Excel, database management and reporting tools, and other contemporary technology tools;
  • Evidence of collaboration and success with various retention strategies;
  • Expertise and proven abilities in developing differentiated, personalized, and “fresh” contemporary multimedia enrollment marketing, communication and messaging strategies;
  • Effective budgeting and financial acumen;
  • Knowledge of federal, state and other applicable regulations; and
  • Master’s degree (required); Doctorate degree (highly preferred).
