About the Position:

The Student Health and Counseling Center provides the advocacy, environment, services, accessibility and resources for students to achieve their greatest potential. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Counseling and Psychological Services Director. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the general supervision and direction of the AVP for Student Affairs, the Director provides operations management and professional leadership for the Office of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) as well as providing consultation and outreach to the campus community, its students, staff and faculty. Manages the daily operation of the clinical service, its reception and intake process, the handling of crisis and other special situations; initiates and leads staff meetings, case conferences and staff training and development; selects, trains, supervises and evaluates staff at both the professional and support staff levels. Supervises the Training Coordinator and jointly oversees the training programs for graduate students, pre-doctoral interns, post-doctoral fellows and other trainees. Provides direct individual, group and crisis counseling and psychotherapy as needed, and provides consultation to staff and faculty with regard to managing student concerns; oversees planning of prevention and education workshops and programs. Provides administrative leadership for CAPS, including the development of program and service goals, objectives and strategic plans. Develops office policies, procedures and clinical protocols and identifies personnel needs and resources, evaluates program outcomes. Serves on the Student Wellness Team and represents CAPS to the other units within Student Wellness, the University administration, faculty, student government and organizations, professional organizations and the public. Will be on-call after hours to cover for emergencies and for crisis intervention. Other duties as assigned.



Essential Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited university/program in counseling or psychology with a minimum of three years of clinical experience in a university counseling center, including three or more years of experience in management or supervisory roles. Required licensure in LMFT or LCSW. Familiarity with the clinical, legal and ethical aspects of treating college students. Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills. Experience working with a diverse college student population.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
