Assistant Professor, British/Renaissance Literature

The Department of English at North Carolina A & T State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in British literature with a specialization and Ph.D (at time of appointment) in Renaissance literature and discourse. The applicant should be prepared to teach the two-semester British literature survey and Shakespeare at the undergraduate level; at the graduate level, for our M.A. program, Shakespeare and perhaps a course in early modern literature and culture. Secondary interest in modern British literature or Medieval desired. The candidate can also expect to teach occasional humanities courses as part of the department’s two-semester humanities survey; and teach occasional courses in composition such as Freshman Composition or Advanced Composition.

The Department of English is housed in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Five undergraduate concentrations are offered: Professional English, African-American Literature, Creative Writing, Technical Writing, Secondary Education. An M.A. in English and African-American Literature as well as an M.A.T. are offered.

The Department also contributes to the General Education curriculum with composition, humanities, and African-American literature courses.

 

Minimum Requirements             

Ph.D. in English with a specialization in Renaissance Literature and discourse by the date of appointment.

Preferred

Ph.D. in English with a specialization in Renaissance Literature and discourse. Secondary interest in modern British literature or Medieval desired.

Peer reviewed publications in area of Ph.D. required. Experience in interdisciplinary grant writing as well as grant writing for the Humanities appreciated.
