The Newcomb Art Department of Tulane University in New Orleans seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of European or American art specializing in any period between the 18th and the early 20th centuries.  This is a one-year position that begins in July, 2018.  The teaching load is 3/3 and includes an introductory survey course and lecture courses and seminars for undergraduate and graduate students in the area of specialty. The PhD must be in hand or near completion by the position start date, and previous teaching experience is preferred.

The Newcomb Art Department is one of the largest and most important departments within the School of Liberal Arts at Tulane. Its faculty enjoys a very collegiate environment, flexibility in course offerings, accomplished and engaged students, and small class sizes. The position comes with a research stipend, and additional research support is available at Tulane.

Qualifications

A PhD in art history must be in hand or near completion by the position start date, and previous teaching experience is preferred.
