The College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications for a full time, non-tenure track Associate Dean Position at its branch campus in Rockville, MD at The Universities at Shady Grove.

Reporting to the Dean of the College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences, this position serves as the Associate Dean of UMBC's programs leading to a bachelor’s degree in Translational Life Science Technology (TLST) and a professional master’s degree in Biotechnology. The incumbent will teach at least one course per semester in the TLST program. In addition to teaching, among other faculty duties, the incumbent will oversee curricula and instruction; recruit and supervise qualified part-time faculty; collaborate with the Division of Professional Studies (UMBC-Shady Grove’s administrative division) on program marketing, student recruitment and retention activities; advise students; pursue business development opportunities with industry; manage UMBC's TLST/Biotechnology Advisory Board; and carry out the necessary administrative duties associated with academic program oversight.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requires an earned doctoral degree. Preference will be given to applicants with at least five years of relevant professional experience, preferably in the biotechnology industry. Teaching experience in classroom and/or on-line environments for industry-oriented programs is strongly desired. Candidates should have strong organizational, management, and public communication skills.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes regular University benefits.
