The Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering at the University of Washington invites applications for a 9-month, full time (100% FTE) Lecturer position, with teaching and administrative duties during the summer based on need.  The person in this position will serve as the Director of ISE’s Graduate Professional Programs (GPP) including the Master of Industrial & Systems Engineering (MISE) program, as well as the Engineering Leadership and Global Integrated Systems Engineering Certificates. The initial appointment is for two (2) years with the possibility for renewal. 

Primary duties for the position include: 

Teaching: Teach a minimum of five (5) classes per year for the Graduate Professional Programs (see https://ise.washington.edu/students/MISE/courses for list of current courses) and other ISE degree programs.  Help facilitate distance learning technologies.    

Administration:  Provide outreach/marketing activities, including corporate and advisory board development.  Oversee curriculum and new program development, course scheduling, and instructor recruitment.  Work as a team with the GPP staff advisor on student recruitment, admissions, advising, and other issues as needed. Track and maintain connections with program alumni. Compile statistics and provide analysis regarding program demand.  

Applicants must have a PhD or foreign equivalent in industrial engineering, systems engineering or a related field by the date of appointment, and excellent communication skills. The successful applicant will be expected to provide innovative, high-quality teaching and contribute to the goals and missions of the department, college, and university. Prior experience in industry is required, and expertise in advising and admissions is preferred. This position is contingent on budgetary approval.

The appointment start date is negotiable, but the candidate must be in the position no later than September 16, 2018.  The level of compensation will be commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications.
