Position Description:
Reporting to the Development Manager, the Senior Developer is responsible for development activity including coordination with other team members and development of complex technical designs and applications features. The Senior Developer gathers requirements, creates mockups, then designs and develops enhancements and features for PeopleSoft products using PeopleTools, PeopleCode, and PL/SQL. The Senior Developer is a key technical resource for other development staff, providing technical advice, review, training and support for various projects.
The Senior Developer must demonstrate and apply a variety of advanced technical and analytical skills. As new technologies emerge, the Senior Developer is expected to quickly learn these technologies, resolve any problems involved in integrating the technologies with the university's systems, define appropriate development standards associated with the technology and train other development staff of its use. The Senior Developer also assists functional staff in evaluating PeopleSoft features and configurations.
Responsibilities:
    Analyze, develop, and maintain administrative applications. Oversee day-to-day development activities ensuring a quality product delivery, standards compliance, and timely completion. Assist/mentor development staff in implementation and troubleshooting of their development responsibilities. Research, learn and implement applicable emerging technologies in support of university mission and goals. Manage/supervise development support and maintenance functions. Provide on-call support for applications and database systems Ensure adherence to University standards in all areas of application development. Write interfaces between PeopleSoft and external vendor products. Participate in peer code reviews, testing, and other well-defined development procedures. Contribute to and produce technical documentation. Assist functional staff in evaluating and researching configuration and delivered functionality to determine best fit for business process needs. Design tables, views, pages, processes in coordination with functional requirements. Estimate work effort for development tasks. Understand available integration technologies. Maintain a high level of accuracy and security. Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of related education and experience 5 years of programming, database systems, and systems analysis work experience required including demonstrated experience with complex solution delivery Strong knowledge of database design and architecture
  • Thorough understanding of the development lifecycle and procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer systems design and architecture with an underlying understanding of the integration of systems hardware, software, and networks
  • Ability to troubleshoot application-related problems
  • Ability to manage teams and projects¿ Managerial, organizational, analytic, and problem solving skills Initiative, creativity, and motivation skills Speaking, listening, writing, and interpersonal skills Commitment to service Collaborative and cooperative approach to leadership and management Ability to facilitate productive meetings and work successfully in a team-oriented environment Ability to exercise sound judgment in complex situations Ability to respectfully work, communicate and provide leadership within a diverse campus community

Highly Desired:
    Experience with Oracle database and tools, including SQL and PL/SQL Familiarity with PeopleSoft Experience in requirements gathering and design of technical specifications for customizations Supervisory and leadership experience Development experience in a higher education setting
