MCLA seeks candidates for the Associate Dean of Graduate and Continuing Education.  The Associate Dean oversees the Division of Graduate and Continuing Education (the unit) and provides strategic leadership for degree and certification programs, including graduate degree programs; Leadership Academy; evening, weekend and summer programs, online/hybrid and other special programs. The Associate Dean must approach the responsibilities of this position with a goal of creating and sustaining successful and profitable programs that best meet the needs of the region and complement the mission of the College. As the operational leader of the division, the Associate Dean will provide guidance on instructional strategies to deliver traditional, online, and hybrid coursework, and will represent the interests of the college, the community and the constituents whom we serve. The Associate Dean is expected to meet revenue goals tied to program development and expansion.

 


Requirements:

  • Master's degree in appropriate field required. Earned doctorate or other terminal degree preferred.
  • A minimum of seven years of progressive management experience in higher education, business, or a combination of both, preferable at a senior level.
  • Experience with management of online and hybrid offerings.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to be both consultative and collaborative with varied constituencies and diverse populations.
  • A substantive track record demonstrating success in leading, implementing, and evaluating innovative, sustainable graduate and continuing education programs.
  • Strong administrative and fiscal management skills.
  • Successful experience with developing, marketing, and building enrollment for new programs and proven ability to manage staff.
  • Knowledge of best practices in adult education and experience with different delivery mechanisms including distance education platforms.
  • Capacity to set goals, develop/implement actionable plans, inspire others, and make decisions in a collegial educational environment.
  • Extensive experience in revenue generating educational program development and planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Experience with establishing and maintaining partnerships and networks with employers, community stakeholders and other educational institutions.
  • Knowledge of higher education trends and regulatory organizations and structures.
  • Ability to work collegially and collaboratively with students, undergraduate/graduate faculty, department chairs, staff and the community.
  • Evidence of entrepreneurial work, creativity and effectiveness in building and administering programs.
  • Experience in and sensitivity to working in a collective bargaining environment.
