The primary responsibility of this position is to empower students to learn and make, informed decisions regarding personal, professional, and scholarly needs within the context of their academic ambitions, rights and responsibilities.

The professional academic advisor is a key facilitator dedicated to supporting all aspects of the student developmental experience, including but not limited to:
- Develop a rapport and trusting relationship with advisee.
- Serve as a mentor / coach to empower students to set appropriate expectations, clarify academic, personal, and career goals, take action on plans, and seek assistance when needed.
- Assist students in developing an appropriate academic plan of study to achieve degree and professional goals, guided by an understanding of Drexel Student Learning Priorities.
- Provide timely and accurate resources for students to successfully navigate towards academic degree completion and other defined personal, academic, and professional goals.
- Understand and communicate to students the implications of the program plan and degree progress and in particular the impact of changing academic plans to these goals.
- Provide guidance within the triage process between students and faculty and other administrators.
- Help the student make transitions and access other University resources (serve as an agent of referral to other campus agencies) as necessary.
- Understand, interpret, and enforce University policies while exploring academic and professional options.
- Act as a conduit between students and the University in both directions: communicate relevant information from the University to students and critical feedback and issues from students to University decision makers.

The Developmental Undergraduate Academic Advisor role fosters the empowerment of LeBow undergraduates to become skillful problem-solvers and experienced decision-makers, well-positioned to emerge as business leaders of tomorrow. This position reports to the Director of Student Services.

Qualifications:

- At least 1-2 years of related job experience in advising, undergraduate programs/student life, admissions and/or recruiting.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Masters Degree preferred Higher Education or Counseling.
- Documented Project Management skills.
- Demonstrable proficiency with PC's and related software, experience with Banner, Hyperion, Blackboard and Bb Vista preferred.
- Familiarity with Drexel LeBow's undergraduate business programs (traditional/online) and options including links with graduate programs.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to outstanding concern and service to customers (students, faculty and staff).
- Demonstrated excellence at planning and organizing own work and records as well as coordinating with related parties and seeking task through to a timely and successful conclusion.
-Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as related to essential duties.
-Demonstrated flexibility with respect to university and college evolving policies and procedures.
- Ability to handle exceptions to processes and work assignments with professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness.
- Professional work appearance and interactions with others.

Essential Functions:

Essential Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Advise students about the development of academic and professional options, including the available resources.
- Work closely with Director and Assistant Director of Undergraduate Programs in recruitment efforts, including credit evaluations and student orientations.
- Act as a liaison for administrative and faculty offices.
- Perform necessary registration duties including freshmen block scheduling, course overrides, AP credit and transfer credit application.
- Manage and assess student academic and professional development.
- Perform degree clearing and commencement activities.
- Ensure University and accreditation standards by enforcing appropriate policy.
- Encourage, support and coordinate student engagement initiatives, including study abroad and student organization activities.
- Serve as instructor for UNIV 101 (The LeBow Freshmen Experience).
- Operation of Banner and Hyperion software related to undergraduate students, curricula and related matters, for example SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite.

Other duties as assigned.
