Assistant/Associate Professor of Counseling

The College of Applied Behavioral Sciences (CABS) at the University of Indianapolis is seeking collaborative, forward-thinking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in our Counseling Program. Current programs include a Mental Health Counseling Master’s program and an optional specialization in Art Therapy. The successful candidate will provide classroom instruction and clinical supervision with faculty assignments based on areas of expertise. Preference will be given to applicants with experiential and academic expertise in art therapy, group therapy, and/or clinical supervision. Service to CABS, the University, and the community, as well as participation in scholarly activities and academic advisement are required. Additional responsibilities will include supporting program recruitment, planning, and accreditation activities.
This position, beginning August 2018, will be a full-time, 10-month, tenure-track position at the level of assistant or associate professor.
CABS is located in UIndy’s Health Pavilion, an innovative interprofessional collaborative space that houses our high-quality programs in physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, kinesiology, athletic training, social work, and psychology.
Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Counselor Education, Counseling, or Counseling Psychology, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program. Candidates who are ABD with the expectation of degree conferral prior to August 2018 will also be considered. If doctorate is in a related field, it is preferred that the applicant served a minimum of one full academic year as a faculty member in a CACREP-accredited counselor education program before July 1, 2013.
- Previous experience teaching and/or supervising master’s level mental health counseling students is required.
- Must be eligible for Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential within one year of hire.
- Expertise in art therapy, group therapy, and/or clinical supervision is preferred.
