Assistant Professor of Counseling—Art Therapy Specialization

The College of Applied Behavioral Sciences (CABS) at the University of Indianapolis is seeking collaborative, forward-thinking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in the Art Therapy Specialization of our Counseling Program.  The successful candidate will provide classroom instruction in art therapy and oversee the clinical field placement component of our master’s in mental health counseling program.  Preference will be given to applicants with experience teaching and supervising graduate students in art therapy and counseling.  Service to CABS, the University, and the community, as well as participation in scholarly activities and academic advisement are required.  Additional responsibilities will include supporting program recruitment, planning, and accreditation activities.

This position, beginning August 2018, will be a full-time, 10-month, tenure-track position at the level of assistant professor.

CABS is located in UIndy’s Health Pavilion, an innovative interprofessional collaborative space that houses our high-quality programs in physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, kinesiology, athletic training, social work, and psychology.  

 Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Art Therapy or Counseling with a specialization in Art Therapy
  • Registered Art Therapist (ATR) credential
  • Eligible for Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential within one year of hire
  • Previous experience teaching and supervising master’s level art therapy and/or counseling students

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Art Therapy from a program accredited by the American Art Therapy Association and/or CACREP
  • Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) credential
  • Previous experience coordinating field experience for master’s students in counseling and/or art therapy
