Oakland University – Assistant Professor Position Department of Counseling

Position: The Department of Counseling at Oakland University, Rochester, Michigan, is seeking applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor faculty position available beginning August 15, 2018. The position will be a full-time appointment with the possibility of Summer teaching. A specialist in school counseling is preferred. We will begin reviewing applications February 10, 2018 and continue reviewing applications until the position is filled.

Salary: Competitive and dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities: Teach school counseling courses and coordinate the school counseling program, as well as engage service and scholarly activities.

Qualifications: A doctorate or ABD in Counselor Education/Counseling (CACREP or CACREP equivalent); eligibility for Michigan license as a professional counselor and/or school counselor; teaching experience; competence in working with students from diverse populations and backgrounds; and a demonstrated ability and/or a strong potential to develop a program of scholarship. Preferred characteristics include at least two years of experience as a school counselor.

The Department: The Department of Counseling offers a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health, a Master of Arts in Counseling with a School emphasis and a Doctoral degree in Counselor Education. Both Master of Arts programs and the Doctoral program are CACREP Accredited. The department has faculty with diverse interests who share a commitment to providing excellence in counselor education.
