The Department of Performing Arts at Weber State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track, assistant professor of music, starting in July 2018, with a generous full benefits package including medical, dental, long-term disability, life insurance, retirement, a wellness program with release time and paid incentives, tuition benefits, and free tickets to athletic and performing arts events.

Specialization:
Demonstrated excellence in piano performance and exceptional piano teaching skills in private lesson and group class settings; outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills; knowledge of piano teaching literature; and ability to foster a positive learning environment for college and pre-college piano students.

Responsibilities:
- Teach applied piano lessons to piano majors/minors;
- Teach assigned weekly group classes and private lessons to pre-college piano students in the WSU Piano Preparatory Program;
- Teach the piano accompanying class to piano and vocal major students; and
- Assist the Director of WSU Piano Preparatory Program with administrative responsibilities.
- Additional teaching duties may include teaching applied piano lessons to non-piano major students, college group piano classes for music majors, or other courses depending on department/program needs and growth, and the chosen candidate's qualifications.

The successful candidate will also be expected to maintain active scholarly/creative professional activities, recruit piano students from in state, nationally, and internationally, take part in piano student advising, as well as participate in departmental, college, university committees and professional service.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Doctorate degree in Piano Performance (must be completed by July 1, 2018).

- Extensive pedagogical training in piano and demonstrated evidence of success with college level piano teaching.
- Accomplished artist-level piano performer with continuing national and international visibility.
- Minimum of two years of group piano teaching experience in a university piano preparatory program setting to pre-college piano students.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Demonstrated success in piano student recruitment.
- Expertise and extensive experience in piano accompanying and chamber music coaching.
