Overview of Position
The Psychologist/Coordinator
of Eating Disorder Treatment Services: (1) performs the duties of a
psychologist, providing generalist clinical services to students;
training and supervisory services to mental health trainees; and
consultation services to faculty, staff, students and
parents; (2) provides expert clinical services specifically
developed to meet the needs of students experiencing disordered
eating and other health related conditions; (3) coordinates
the development and delivery of psycho-educational programming to
the university community on disordered eating related topics; and
(4) coordinates consultation services relative to the needs of
students with disordered eating conditions.
Duties/Physical Demands:
Position Responsibilities
“Psychologist”
responsibilities:
• Provides multi-culturally
informed psychological services, including psychological, substance
use, and attention problem evaluations, and individual and group
counseling and psychotherapy to Miami University students
presenting a wide range of mental health concerns.
• Intervenes in crisis and
emergency situations of a mental health nature with students,
including after hours on-call
responsibilities.
• Consults with faculty,
staff, students, families, and other professionals regarding the
mental health needs of students.
• Initiates and responds to
requests to provide psycho-educational programming to various
groups within the university community.
• Provides clinical
supervision and training of staff, psychology interns within the
SCS APA-accredited psychology internship training program, and
other trainees such as doctoral and masters level students from
Miami’s APA-accredited Clinical Psychology Training Program,
commensurate with the psychologist’s licensure status.
• Maintains clinical records
and provides clinical documentation and communication with external
practitioners as necessary for ethical clinical treatment.
• Attends and participates in
clinical staff meetings, consultations, and professional
development.
• Assumes responsibility for
other assignments including serving on divisional and university
committees.
“Coordinator” and
Administrative Responsibilities:
The Coordinator of Eating
Disorder Treatment Services takes a leadership role in visioning,
developing and coordinating the implementation of departmental
clinical, consultative, and programming services to students
experiencing disordered eating and other health related
conditions. The Coordinator also provides leadership in
implementing consultative services to the broader university on
issues of disordered eating and related health concerns, including
chairing the Eating Disorders Management Team, and participation on
other divisional and University committees. Additionally,
this position provides expertise in training and supervision of
mental health trainees especially in the treatment of eating
disorder and other health related conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requirements:
Completion of at least all course work for a doctoral degree in
counseling or clinical psychology prior to the start date (no later
than August 1, 2018) from an APA-accredited doctoral training
program and completed an APA-approved internship.
License-eligible as a psychologist in Ohio within two years of
start date.
Demonstrated interest and experience in providing clinical and
psycho-educational programming services to university
students.
Demonstrated interest and experience in the provision of clinical
services to individuals struggling with disorder eating and
related health conditions.
Demonstrated ability to work
independently, work well in a team setting, and serve in leadership
roles.
