The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is inviting applications for three postdoctoral fellowships in the Center for Innovative Pharmacy Education and Research (CIPhER).

Founded in 2017, the CIPhER’s mission focuses broadly on improving the practice of pharmacy education and the quality and impact of research and scholarship on pharmacy education by coordinating and fostering the efforts of the School’s faculty, clinical preceptors, postgraduate fellows, residents and teaching assistants. CIPhER aims to help faculty and others to more effectively: teach, assess and promote student learning; produce peer-reviewed publications and compete for grants; and generate income by commercializing education-related products such as surveys, inventories, tests, teaching materials, online instruction (e.g., MOOCs), and digital applications. CIPhER sponsors certificate offerings, contributes to continuing professional education, offers onsite and online training workshops and seminars, and coordinates relevant, mutually beneficial efforts with entities such as the UNC Center for Faculty Excellence, other UNC health science schools, the UNC School of Education, ACPE, ACCP, and the PharmAlliance. To support, facilitate, and advance this work, we are seeking three (3) highly qualified postdoctoral fellows.

A one-year postdoctoral fellowship provides exposure and mentored experience across the full range of educational research activities, including study design, data collection, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and grant writing. Although the program will be tailored to each Fellow’s unique skills and experiences, s/he will gain broad experience in educational research and assessment supporting the core mission of CIPhER. Health professions schools are uniquely positioned to examine critical educational research questions that are not only of importance to themselves, but of increasing interest and significance to larger audiences across higher education. CIPhER is committed to producing rigorous and systematic educational research that will provide insight necessary to advance strategic initiatives, improve student outcomes, enhance workforce development, and position the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy as a model of educational innovation and excellence, nationally and globally.

Each CIPhER Postdoctoral Fellow will report directly to one of the core CIPhER staff: the Executive Director, the Director of Education Research and Scholarship, or the Director of Educational Development – but will work closely with all CIPhER staff and associates. Appointment includes a UNC benefits package and competitive stipend.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
