In the Office of Undergraduate Admission, we continue to work to recruit and retain such students from diverse backgrounds. We also focus on versatile policies and practices that build a sense of community among people with many backgrounds, skills, and strengths.

Carnegie Mellon’s Office of Undergraduate Admission is looking for an Associate Director of Admission/Financial Aid and Analytics to support and lead a dynamic and growing team. This is a fast-paced office within a highly selective university, offering a diverse environment and variety in workload.  We are looking for someone who will demonstrate strong leadership and relationship building skills, an outgoing and positive approach, excellent communication and organizational skills, and a keen attention to detail.

Core responsibilities will include:

  • Recruiting and counseling a diverse group of academically and/or artistically qualified student applicants to the university
  • Counseling prospective students and parents about the financial aid process, determining eligibility for financial aid resources and re-evaluating eligibility based upon university guidelines, as well as counseling students and parents in financial planning options;
  • Leading a team of admission staff members working through the admission decision making process for one or more of the academic colleges within the university;
  • Leading the Office of Admission Financial Aid and Analytics team which performs needs analysis, financial aid packaging and financial aid notification to newly admitted and wait listed admission candidates; and
  • Conducting data mining and analysis to support senior university and Office of Admission decision makers.

You should be able to travel domestically throughout the year, with it being concentrated most heavily in the fall.  You should also be flexible for events that will require some night and weekend hours.  Finally, you must obtain all background clearances as may be required by Pennsylvania Act 153.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required, Master’s degree highly desired
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Minimum five years of related experience required (i.e. admissions, financial aid, or higher education)
  • Experience with POWERFAIDS highly desired
