Ball State University is accepting applications for the Professional position of Academic Advisor and Recruiter in the Division of Online and Strategic Learning.

As a Division within Academic Affairs, we provide student services and administrative support to faculty and staff for the delivery of online, blended, and distance education.

This position is a full-time fiscal year contract position.

Major responsibilities: Act as recruiter & academic advisor for assigned online academic programs, guide prospective students through the admissions process; provide support for students to interpret, understand, and meet academic requirements specific to their designated program of study; support and leverage student recruitment activities for the purpose of meeting the program and Division of Online and Strategic Learning enrollment goals.

Minimum qualifications: Master’s degree.

One year of relevant experience (for example, teaching, counseling, advising, or student-related program administration).

Preferred qualifications: Excellent oral and written communication skills; high degree of commitment to customer service; strong focus on detail and task completion; highly organized with good analytical skills; demonstrated competency in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, database, email and Internet applications; ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team setting; ability to work with faculty, administration, and students; sensitivity to the needs of a diverse and non-traditional student population; interpersonal/human relations skills; ability to encourage and empower students to make their own decisions; ability to act as an advocate for both the student and the university; ability to identify students’ needs for support services in order to make appropriate recommendations; ability to maintain confidentiality; direct experience assisting college-level students; additional years of related experience; web and telephone conferencing experience; and customer/student recruitment experience.
