OU Libraries seeks a highly motivated, service-oriented and entrepreneurial expert to be the Lead Business Librarian serving the Price College of Business.  Opportunities to work with the Ronnie K. Irani Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth, the Center for Entrepreneurship, and the Innovation Hub in supporting emerging business ideas and breakthrough ventures set this position apart.  The Lead Business Librarian will actively identify opportunities to build and maintain relationships with faculty, students and administrative units within the business college, providing course-integrated instruction, workshops, consultations and research assistance, building collections, and promoting library programs.  The position will supervise one full-time librarian and partner with library specialists to promote new and emerging library services that engage the business college.  

 Responsibilities: 

  • research/scholarship: Cultivate and communicate an understanding of the professional literature, and of trends in research and data creation/provision/management; understand the role of new and emerging business intelligence and technologies on the ongoing development and evolution of business education and library services; use this knowledge to serve business faculty and students in a research university environment.
  • outreach/engagement: Build and sustain effective working relationships and work collaboratively in a diverse and fast-paced environment; understand and communicate current and emerging trends/issues related to scholarly communication, open access, open educational resources, information and data literacy, research data management, impact metrics, and digital scholarship; promote library services to engage new models of research and teaching in business.
  • teaching/learning: Engage faculty and instructors to integrate information, research skills, and digital/data literacy concepts and skills into the curriculum; coordinate with colleagues to create teaching/learning opportunities to meet new and emerging educational and research needs.

 Successful candidates will:

  • Utilize strong organizational, project, and time management skills to lead or coordinate multiple projects, working with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate strong oral, presentation, and written communication skills.

 Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in library/information science, or equivalent experience in a corporate library setting.

      OR

  • Master’s degree in business, economics, or information technology management; degree must be completed by May 2018.
  • Minimum of one year of recent experience in research consultation and instruction in a corporate, academic, research or public library setting, or in a university business college.
  • Strong quantitative and analytic skills and experience with major business databases such as CRSP and Compustat, CapitalIQ and other archival business datasets.
  • Experience supervising established employees in an academic or corporate setting.
