The Department of Biology at Amherst College invites applications for a visiting assistant professor in the area of biochemistry. This is a one-year position beginning in July 2018, with the possibility of renewal for a second year. Given Amherst College's commitment to cultivating a challenging and inclusive educational environment, we seek candidates who can teach, mentor, and inspire students of different races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, genders, religions, abilities, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

The successful candidate will teach a team-taught lecture course in biochemistry in the fall semester and a team-taught lecture course with laboratory in biochemistry in the spring semester. The candidate will also mentor undergraduates in directed research in the candidate's area of expertise. Research space, shared equipment, and modest research funds will be provided for this purpose. A completed Ph.D. is required and post-doctoral experience is expected.
