Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Extensive counseling and advisement of students on matters related to Title IV financial aid programs, state financial aid programs, and University scholarship programs. Determines financial aid eligibility, reviews supporting documentation, and packages Title IV financial aid awards according to federal regulations. Performs federal verification of student aid application data in accordance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines. Monitors student satisfactory academic progress requirements, and reviews financial aid suspension appeals and renders appeal decisions.
    • Coordinates all aspects of the University’s electronic processes for participating in the Federal Stafford Loan and PLUSLoan Programs. Performs the disbursement of financial aid to all student accounts and reconciles financial aid disbursement totals with the Business Office. Performs all Return of Title IV Funds refund calculations for withdrawn students.
    • Assists Director in staying current on federal and state regulations, and implementing policies and procedures that reflect institutional or regulatory changes. Serves as a knowledgeable resource person for other staff members, and coordinates the training of new staff members. Coordinates the comprehensive training of all staff, including office policies and procedures, federal regulations, verifications, financial aid packaging, and other administrative duties. 
    • Assists Director in development of workflows and business processes related to the implementation of scanning software and any other new technological initiatives. Understands the SCTBANNER Financial Aid module for explanations to student questions. Works with the Director in coordinating the annual setup of the SCT Banner Financial Aid module. 
    • Conducts presentations in area high schools to educate students and families about the value of a college education and paying for college costs.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and general public, including public speaking skills.
    • Ability to successfully function within a fast-paced, dynamic environment in a variety of situations, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Understand FERPAand the highly confidential nature and scope of this position.
    • Knowledge of SCTBANNER Financial Aid module and the skill to navigate within the BANNER system.
    • Commitment to a high level of quality customer service.
    • Maintain professional demeanor and exhibit a helpful, caring attitude.
    • Be a source of encouragement for students.

 

Required Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree required, plus two years of working experience in a Financial Aid Office or related area. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these basic requirements upon approval.

 

Salary Range

$45,000-$57,000
